More Than a Yoga Class: Inside Palestra's May Workshop Season

Three photos of women in yoga and wellness workshops at Palestra, alongside the text: More Than a Yoga Class

At most wellness studios, a "class" means you show up, move, and go home. It's a transaction, efficient and fine.

At Palestra, we believe in something more than that — and our May workshop season is where that belief becomes concrete.

Over the course of this month, we're hosting five workshops that each offer something you can't get from a standard class: depth, community, transformation, and the specific alchemy that happens when skilled facilitators bring their full expertise into a room.

Here's what's on the calendar — and why each one matters.

Rooted Within: A Hypno-Breathwork Healing Series (May 1)

The fifth and final session of our Rooted Within series lands on May 1. Over the past five sessions, participants have been guided through a practice that combines hypnotherapy and breathwork — two modalities that, together, create access to the subconscious in ways that talking alone rarely reaches.

If you've been carrying something you can't seem to think your way out of — old patterns, stored stress, emotional residue from the year — breathwork creates the conditions for release. Participants in this series consistently describe it as the most unexpectedly powerful thing they've done for their wellbeing in months.

Restorative Yoga & Yoga Nidra for Deep Rest with Jenn Shull (May 3)

Jenn Shull is one of Palestra's most beloved teachers — and this 90-minute workshop is a testament to why. The session moves from restorative yoga (fully supported, prop-assisted poses held long enough to actually release) into a 30-minute yoga nidra that takes you to the edge of sleep and back.

This is not a performance. There are no adjustments, no modifications to make. You simply lie down and let the body do what it already knows how to do when the conditions are right.

Baby & Me 3-Class Series (May 4–18)

New mothers are some of the most underserved people in wellness spaces. The Baby & Me series changes that.

Over three sessions (May 4, 11, and 18), new and postpartum mamas move their bodies safely and intentionally — with baby right there on the mat. It's movement and recovery and community, all in one. The social dimension of this series is as valuable as the physical one: finding other women who understand exactly where you are right now is its own kind of medicine.

Bumblebee Bliss: A Springtime Tote Paint Party with Laura Knopp (May 15–16)

Not every workshop needs to be about release or restoration. Sometimes it just needs to be about joy.

Laura Knopp is an intuitive artist with a remarkable gift for creating spaces where creativity feels safe — even for people who insist they "can't draw." This 2.5-hour workshop centers on painting a bumblebee and wildflower design on a canvas tote bag, but the real product is something subtler: the experience of making something with your hands, of being present in a creative process, of spending an afternoon in a room full of people who chose to do something kind for themselves.

Wellness has many faces. This is one of the most delightful.

Sacred Embodiment Workshop with Ally Beetham (May 17)

Ally Beetham's Sacred Embodiment Workshop is the kind of offering that's difficult to describe without sounding either vague or oversold — so instead we'll say this: it is a 2-hour experience that uses the body as a portal.

Through yogic philosophy, breathwork, sound, movement, mantra, and goddess archetypes, Ally creates a container for the transformation of emotion. Not the suppression of it. Not the analysis of it. The actual, felt-in-the-body transformation of it.

Women who have attended Ally's workshops consistently describe walking in as one person and walking out as someone who has more access to themselves. That's the best we can do to explain it.

The Thread That Connects Them

What makes Palestra's workshop calendar different from a typical studio isn't just the range — it's the intention behind it.

Each facilitator we invite into this space has been chosen because they offer something that can't be approximated. Something that requires presence, skill, and the specific kind of attention that only a small-group setting makes possible.

We believe that transformation isn't a luxury. It's a necessity. And we believe it happens in community, in a room, with people who showed up — the same as you.
